The workbench computes in the browser: there is no server to reach. What matters is the projection zone — and that depends on latitude.
Each zone is a conformal cone built on a standard parallel: distortion grows with the distance from it. Hence the simple rule below, and the check against a known control point before any plan is delivered.
Central meridian: 5° 24′ west. Merchich datum, Clarke 1880 ellipsoid (a = 6,378,249.2 m), tied to WGS84 by the three-parameter transformation the workbench applies.
| Zone | Standard parallel | Latitude band | False origin X0 / Y0 |
|---|---|---|---|
| N Morocco North | 33,3° | ≥ 31,5° | 500 000 / 300 000 |
| S Morocco South | 29,7° | 31,5° – 27,9° | 500 000 / 300 000 |
| SN Morocco Sahara North | 26,1° | 27,9° – 24,3° | 1 200 000 / 400 000 |
| SS Morocco Sahara South | 22,5° | ≤ 24,3° | 1 500 000 / 400 000 |
The centre of each region decides the zone shown. A site on the edge of a band is checked on the spot: the workbench reprojects on demand, and the zone selector stays open.

Elevations come from 30 m SRTM tiles sampled in the browser: the same in Tangier as in Dakhla, with no key and no account. Where a tile is missing — open sea, saturated sand — the altitude stays empty rather than invented.
The workbench does not replace an official survey: it prepares, checks and draws. A binding boundary still needs a sworn surveyor and control points tied to the national network.
